CHA Spring 2012

February 8, 2012

There are many, many perks to having a super-crafty momma who owns her own scrapbooking store. But at the end of January, it meant that I got to tag along to the spring Craft and Hobby Association show in California, where I spent three days wandering through intricately designed booths, making incredible demo projects, taking art and craft classes, and daydreaming about being a designer for one of these companies.

This set of tags, embellished with miniature clothespins and bits of burlap and hung inside a woodland wreath that was mounted against a wall that was decoupaged in bits of found paper, was just one of the many things I fell in love with last week. Since I restrained myself from live pinning (in fear that I’d post 800 pictures on the first day alone), I’m now in the process of posting my favorites. Wait until you see!

I also just so happened to wander into the Lifestyle Crafts booth just in time for their giveaway and handed in my entry form in the very last seconds before they started the drawing and what do you know? I won a letterpress starter kit! I now plan to letterpress everything. It’s a dream come true.

Hello, 2012

January 11, 2012

On January 1st, at 10 o’clock at night, we wandered out into a very cold Yosemite field with our glow sticks to stargaze and take some amazing photos. If this picture is any indication, 2012 is going to be pretty great.

I was hoping for a white Christmas in the mountains; I got the mountains but not the snow. I’m still hoping for a white New Years in Yosemite. There may not be snow on the forecast but I’m not giving up yet.
